A sculptural vessel of unhurried authority, this small-scale work from John Richard layers stone against an antique brass body to quietly commanding effect. At just over ten inches in height, its proportions are precisely calibrated — substantial enough to anchor a surface, restrained enough to invite close study. The interplay between the aged warmth of the brass and the mineral depth of the stone gives the piece an almost geological presence, as though it were excavated rather than designed.
