Drifting into the Abstract 1 is a mesmerizing work on canvas that recalls the soak-staining technique developed by American Abstractionist Helen Frankenthaler. Using thinned layers of color, a translucency and saturation are achieved across the entirety of the canvas, broken up only by a thin grey line that composes the abstract horizon. Muted tones of lavender grey, cadet blue, and dawn compose the top of the canvas, while the bottom half is more densely formed in subtle shades of vanilla, ash grey, and pale slate.
