The Designers
Thomas O'Brien studied photography and design at Cooper Union, then opened Aero Studios in SoHo in 1992. He has run the studio and its shop ever since, buying and selling the kind of objects he designs around.
His Century collection arrived in 2015 and ran to more than a hundred pieces across living, dining and bedroom. He works in what he calls vintage modern, which in practice means American forms from several decades sitting together without period fuss. A room of his work reads as collected over time rather than bought at once.
He also designs lighting for Visual Comfort, textiles for Lee Jofa and rugs for Safavieh, so the furniture tends to sit easily beside things a client already owns.
